Message from Phil Hendricks, Director of CSIR Roads and Transport Technology

Print friendly version

Since its launch in 2001, Akani has showcased the latest technology-based solutions developed by CSIR Building and Construction Technology (Boutek) in partnership with the public and private sectors. This issue of Akani sees the inclusion of a number of articles related to the latest technology-based solutions in the field of transportation. Future editions of this electronic magazine will incorporate articles addressing the current work being executed by CSIR Roads and Transport Technology (Transportek).

The socio-economic challenges faced by professionals in the built environment today have made the provision of infrastructure significantly more complex. In consequence, today's professionals require a broad understanding of infrastructure provision and innovative technology solutions in relation to these socio-economic challenges, as well as the ability to promote partnership cooperation at both the public/private and public/public levels.

It is hoped that this broader focus on the built environment will provide useful and interesting information to the industry we serve and that Akani will continue to play its part in support of an attractive and sustainable built environment.
